  3. The brief

    Theragen's spinal fusion device only helps if patients use it through recovery, so the app beside it had to be one they would open.

  4. Why it matters

    Wearable health devices tend to have low adoption, and adherence is what drives recovery outcomes.

  5. The result

    App adoption doubled, and the app earned an honorable mention in Fast Company's 2022 Innovation by Design awards.

A design career spent staying ahead of the technological curve

I cut my teeth in newsrooms, where complex problems had to become clear solutions before the presses ran. Twenty years later I'm still addicted to that moment of clarity. Only the problems have changed.

Print gave way to web, web to mobile and mobile to product, and each time my job was to ask what would actually work before anyone spent a dollar building it. AI is that shift again, and I'm asking the same question. What will people actually use?
